The National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI)

NAMI is a good resource for education, advocacy and support. As stated on their web site:

"The National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI) is a nonprofit, grassroots, self-help, support and advocacy organization of consumers, families, and friends of people with severe mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia, major depression, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and anxiety disorders."

 

Children and Adults with Attention Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder

Various disorders of attention affect almost everyone, either directly or indirectly through someone we know. According to their website, CHADD is:
". . . the national non-profit organization representing children and adults with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (AD/HD). Founded in 1987 by a group of concerned parents, CHADD works to improve the lives of people with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder through education, advocacy and support. Working closely with leaders in the field of AD/HD research, diagnosis and treatment, CHADD offers its members and the public information they can trust."
